Investigation of Seeds and Peels of Citrullus colocynthis as Efficient Natural Adsorbent for Methylene Blue Dye

Natural adsorbents as low-cost materials have been proved efficient for water remediation and significant capacity the removal of certain chemicals from wastewater. The present investigation aimed to use Citrullus colocynthis seeds (CCSs) peels (CCPs) an natural adsorbent methylene blue (MB) dye in aqueous solution. examined biosorbents were characterized using surface area analyzer (BET), scanning electron microscope (SEM), thermogravimetric (TGA) Fourier transform infra-red (FT-IR) spectroscopy. Batch adsorption experiments conducted optimize main factors influencing biosorption process. equilibrium data MB by CCSs best described Langmuir isotherm followed Freundlich isotherms, while CCPs well fitted Temkin isotherm. Under optimum conditions, maximum efficiency 18.832 mg g−1 98.00% MB-CCSs 4.480 91.43% MB-CCPs. Kinetic studies revealed that onto obeys pseudo-first order kinetic model (K1 = 0.0274 min−1), follows pseudo-second (K2 0.0177 g mg−1 min−1). Thermodynamic was endothermic a spontaneous process nature associated with rise randomness, but exothermic only at room temperature decline disorder. Based on obtained results, CCPSs can be utilized efficient, biosorbents, is promising since it showed highest percentage dye.
